I checked the black box and it says it is a CATV converter. Does he have to pay monthly fees to use that device? Also I’m hearing about the digital transition coming in 2009. All TV without “set top box” won’t be able to watch analog signals. Is the box that my dad received also a “set-top” box?

Try an online search for cable providers in your area. A local tv guide listing may list the different providers (for different channel lists). Satellite usually have competive packages, but require contracts and equipment purchases like receivers, but I would still look at them too – they have stations listed for each package.

I’m using Analog CATV and Cable Internet. And when I plug out cable from modem or tuner or TV, sometimes electricity from cable can hit me. And I can fell high electricty. It’s like licking 9Volt battery.

While there may be electricity in a coax from CATV, it’s not enough to hurt you. It’s a very low voltage to power amplifiers along the cable. It’s probably more than 9 volts, but 9 volts isn’t a dangerous voltage, either. More than likely what you’re feeling is a static charge that’s building up in the cable as the wind blows across it.

I’m googling for places to purchase, but I’m not interested in what’s out there – I simply want to buy cable wires and cable splitters so that my whole house can have TV….short of going to home depot.

Don’t want to do any wire cutting either; I’d like them “premade” (eg. 50 foot, 25 foot cables, etc.)
