I've used Shaw for internet, TV and phone since I got here (4 years ago) and had no problems. I do know that Telus is now offering a package that may be a bit cheaper but the problem that I have with it is that it will only allow you to have up to 3 TVs on the system and I have more then that in the house. At least with Shaw I can have TVs without cable boxes that still work on the sytem but with Telus you need to have a cable box to work and they won't give you more then three.
References :
Brain22. It has become obvious to me that you have not read the most important link I've sent you: www.movetoedmonton.com. Had you read it you would have all this information at your disposal. The website explains, winter driving, cable, telephone, banking, heating options - absolutely everything a newcomer to Edmonton needs to know. By scrolling down those pages you would have links to our phone, cable, heating companies. Their web pages have all the information you're looking for.

You are going to be on: Information Overload soon. Most of what you're asking won't apply like home heating if you're renting an apartment. Knowledge about everything else will come gradually the longer you live here. As you make friends and just in talking to people you gain a wealth of information. You will learn new things daily when you move here. You cannot anticipate everything in advance.

I'm sure that your new employer and co-workers would be more than happy to help you get settled. As I've mentioned before: You will be OK - you've already done more research than most. Everything will fall into place once you get here.
References :
Both Shaw and Telus (company names) offer telephone, internet and cable TV service. You can purchase them as a bundle or by themselves. Telus requires you to sign a contract, Shaw does not.
References :
You don't have to buy a package. If you do it will be a little cheaper, but will be more difficult to change an unsatisfactory service.
