get a 4 port switch or a 4 port hub.
a switch is better and you should be able to get a 4 port switch for under $20

October 3rd, 2009 at 1:51 pmYou could use either a router or a switch. Which one to get would depend on your situation. If this is a private network, like at your house, then save some money and get a switch. If it is more like a dorm or apartment where they have a shared/public network, then grab a router. A router will allow you to split the connection while giving a higher level of security.
At Newegg you can grab a switch for $10-$15, or you could grab a wired router for $30-$40.
The one thing a router can do that a switch can’t is to give you wireless for your laptop! To buy a router that has wireless too does not cost much more than one without it. I use a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and could not be happier.
