Welcome to Apex Cable TV

July 26th, 2009 by admin

Apex Cable TV is here to provide you with information about cable television or CATV (the abbreviation for cable TV).

We explain in lay mans terms what cable TV is, and all about the components for CATV and anything that goes along with it. We also provide links to cable providers offering their latest cable deals.

Cable television can be confusing to a lay person and those of us less technically minded people. Yet having fixed optical fibre or coaxial cables can provide you with FM radio programming, high speed Internet, cable telephony, non-television services as well as your cable television. So it is worthwhile to have an understanding of what cabling is all about.

The combination of TV, telephone and Internet access is commonly called triple play whether it is offered by telco’s or cable TV providers.

Cable TV is commonplace in some countries like the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and East Asia. It is present in parts of other countries like South America and the Middle East. Although in countries like Africa due to sparsely populated areas it is not cost-effective to lay cables.

Access to a cable network requires that cables are laid and maintained right through to your property. Although in some places cable connections are commonplace, other places only offer a limited cable service.

Laying and maintaining cables comes at some cost and it is not feasible for all the companies to lay cables to every property. This tends to create a natural monopoly situation in many circumstances. Competition to this is likely to be in the form of terrestrial or satellite providers.

cable tv packages vary from region to region and provider to provider.  The rates do change and you really need an understanding of what you are paying for which can sometimes be a challenge.

So bookmark Apex Cable TV now as we help bring you cable deals and provide you with information for a greater understanding of cable electronics.

Which cable TV provider offers the best deal?

November 2nd, 2009 by admin

Which cable TV provider offers the best deal?

We have a very limited budget for cable TV. Which provider/plan is the cheapest to get? We want a very limited plan, cable TV only with basic channels like ESPN, Disney, Discovery, History. I guess you can tell that I don’t know much about the subject, but any and all help is greatly appreciated.

First, it will depend on what providers are available in your area (comcast, verizon, rcn, etc). Once you determine who offers this service check their web sites for their current deals. There is tremendous competion for customers and you should be able to find a suitable deal in your area.

Keep in mind some of the channels you are looking for are only available in the higher tier price range so you will need to decide how much you want to spend. My comcast plan just jumped $32.00 and when I called about it they told me I had just come off of some 12 month special pricing. When I suggested I might jump to verizon they upped my package to include all of the premium stations for $7.00 more a month. Don’t be afraid to haggle.

How do satellite/cable TV providers determine how much to charge customers?

October 25th, 2009 by admin

How do satellite/cable tv providers determine how much to charge customers?

We let our DirectTV service go. We got tired of paying for JUNK we never watch. It seems like EVERYBODY pays for the junk as well as the good programming. I’m not talking about the quality programming like FOX news, A&E, CNN, Discovery, but the third and fourth tier “networks” like Fishing, Home and Garden, Jewlery, type “networks”.

Who pays for those? The infomercial producers pay to play, do the networks in turn pay to play on the providers like DirectTV or Comcast? If all those “networks” pay to play, and the providers like Comcast sell local advertising, why are we the viewers stuck paying fifty buck or more a month for programming we might never watch?

Are providers like Comcast charging advertisers based on actual viewers or subscribers? If they are charging based on subscribers then the advertisers are getting ripped off just as much as the viewers who may never watch the “Fishing” channel. How does all that work and are we the viewers getting ripped off? I know somebody has to maintain the equipment and pay the offshore CSRs, but why would any business pay to advertise on a network that hardley anybody is watching.

This isn’t an answer to your question – I don’t subscribe to anything. But I would subscribe if I could hand pick a few select channels and not have to bother with crap laden majority of junk!

Is it possible to take the Virgin Media cable TV packages without taking a phone line with them?

October 22nd, 2009 by admin

Is it possible to take the Virgin Media cable tv packages without taking a phone line with them?

I want to stay with BT phone line because it simply is cheaper and I have more deals such as free evening and weekend calls for a good price.

As they’re offering free cable TV with phone they must offer it as a separate deal - Virgin Media Cable TV
